Maybe even the players now realize why poker's TV ratings are higher than the NHL's.  I'm not surprised at all to find that a many of them took up the great game of Hold 'em during the lockout.

Given the amount of analysis and care it takes to successfully navigate a poker tourney, maybe Tim Connolly will apply some of those lessons on the ice and not pull the hockey-equivalent of calling an all-in bet with a pair of ducks, by taking on three defenders at the blueline.

This quote from Danny Briere is priceless though:

"Guys are thinking they can make back that 24 percent rollback through poker," Briere said with a smirk, referring to the pay cut players took in the NHL collective bargaining agreement. "There's a lot of guys that are really into it, really putting a lot of money into it."

Putting a lot of money in it.... hmmm, sounds like I would have had fun on Sunday.
