When I abandoned this space 2 years ago I thought I'd never really come back to it. The reasons for doing so were long and tortuous, but the fact was that I wasn't enjoying myself anymore... and hockey season was starting up. While this blog never had a wide readership (due both to subject matter and my own ineptitude at promoting it) it did have a loyal one. And to those who e-mailed me from time to time to inquire as to my status and well-being, I thank you. My goal is to return with a few posts per week about things current and things that don't matter. Hopefully the schwerve will return with something approaching a vengeance, but alas, in this medium there truly are no guarantees.
A funny thing happened, though, during the interregnum. I became a much more successful writer blogging about hockey than I ever thought I could acheive writing about the scum and substance of current events. Sabre Rattling has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams, culminating in a gig with AOL Sports and a very modest secondary income.
Other highlights include dropping out of and away from the LP, becoming a father, taking a job 250 miles from home and adding an addition to the house at Outer Luongolia all the while stockpiling gold and silver (not nearly fast enough) and playing a lot of World Of Warcrack.
But, this post is not meant as self-congratulatory masturbation. Just a re-introduction and a reaffirmation. There have been so many times when I wanted to jump over here and burp up some drivel about something happening in the world but inertia mixed with realism meant that I know no one would really be reading unless I engaged in blog pimpage of the most inappropriate kind on SR.
But, if any of you who actually read this are wondering why I've re-joined the general public it's because of one man.
Ron Paul.
After a few false starts and moments of over-zealousness that plagued my interpretation of future events, I am cautiously optimistic at the early returns from the good Dr. No's campaign to effect a sea-change in the dynamics of this presidential election cycle. So, I've been spending far too much time recently commenting on stories Dugg and blogs visited that it's time to collect those disparate ideas back where they belong... my blog.
The name here has changed because I found myself embarrassed by the old one the farther I got away from it. The new title is a reference to a poem I wrote in another former life, and it's a phrase that I've become more proud of as time has passed. Okay, maybe there's a bit of self-congratulation at work here.
Sue me.
